Amazing Sounds!

We are getting ready for the next studio recital in March. The girls are working on solos with a teacher duet, and a big trio piece, too! The solos have a melody shared across the two hands, and lots of accidentals and surprising harmonies in the teacher part. They are meant to be piano duets, but just for fun, the girls tried their solos on the organ with me playing the teacher part on the piano. It takes a lot of listening and counting to get it right!

One song is called Unicorns Are Real, and the other is Twilight and Dawn both by Tom Gerou. The harmonies have an old fashioned sound, and the kids think they're cool! Moving them to organ was a HIT!!!



I scooted the bench as close as I could so their right legs could reach the expression pedal. One little lady even flipped the Leslie switch to a straight tone on the last note, which is very cool on a Hammond!



It was a really good time! Each sister made videos of the other! The older girl even introduced the younger sissie like she is on the evening news!



So fun!

Reading your post about “Amazing Sounds” instantly took me back to the summer I spent in a tiny coastal town in Italy, where every morning began with the distant hum of fishing boats and the rhythmic clatter of gulls perched on the pier.
