Feel the Beat!

My best drum student came today (okay, he's my only drum student!), and I'm so proud of him!!!

He's working through an excellent drum method book. We're doing paradiddles, sticking patterns, and rudiments galore! He's learning to read notation and rhythms in the book by playing along with online recordings. Sometimes we trade spots and I show him how a rhythm goes. Sometimes we play together on the high hat, chanting "bass, snare, bass, snare."

But mostly, he wants to play with his family in church! He's got GOALS!!!

Near the end of every lesson we do a contemporary worship song. His mom plays my Hammond B-3 organ like a PRO!!! It's so cool! I play piano and sing on a mic, because of course, we get loud, and my student plays drums. We all three play together, and he's getting it! It's SO FUN!!!

He's becoming a musician!

I offer lessons on piano, voice, guitar, ukulele, drums, elementary general music, and beginning band instruments at my home north of Ottawa, IL. It's always a good time, and musical dreams are coming true!
