Sisters!

I love taking pictures of my students at their first lessons because someday we will look back and marvel at how little they were!

These sweet girls started piano lessons (1st grade) and "General Music" (kindergarten) today, and they both did great!

The 1st grader did everything I asked of her, and she played like the music has been inside her all along, just waiting to get out!

The littler girl is interested in music, but not ready to commit to what that path will be, so her mom and I decided to do "general music" lessons with her, giving her an age-appropriate head start to wherever her musical future takes her! So we started right off with Freddie the Frog and the Thump In the Night by Sharon Burch, a picture book and story of a little frog who lives on Treble Clef Island. The story elements fit on the staff and make the lines and spaces memorable! She learned her first SIX notes today, with Freddie the Frog! She also sang a song and played with a couple of notes on the piano, too!

My favorite thing is that the older girl got to learn with Freddie the Frog, too, just by sitting in with her little sister's lesson!
